Downtown’s first new hotel in 30 years opens this week with luxury from top to bottom

“A maple tree that had to come down because of its age and health (it had been dropping a branch through Nike’s roof) was recycled into a large coffee table for the Inn lobby and smaller end tables for the rooms by Urban Lumber Co. of Springfield. Mantels in the 62 rooms with fireplaces were made of wood recycled from Nike’s counters, ticking both Obie’s sense of place and green practice boxes.”

The Splinters Woodworking Group will host a gallery party on Friday, September 30th in downtown Eugene! Please join us for snacks, drinks, art, live music and fun at 881 Willamette St. The party begins at 6:00 pm and the gallery will be open until 11:00 pm on Friday night. Let’s celebrate our downtown revival, thank our Splinters members and customers and welcome students, locals and guests to art in downtown!

Lane Arts Council’s First Friday ArtWalk is on September 2 in downtown Eugene. The ArtWalk Tour begins at 5:30 pm at Splinters Gallery at 881 Willamette Street, followed by stops at Opus VII, Jacobs Gallery and MECCA. Please join us in visiting these amazing art galleries to view new pieces by Seth San Filippo and many other local artists!

The Register Guard ran a really great article in the Springfield Extra section of the newspaper today about Seth San Filippo and Urban Lumber Company! The article is titled “Out of the Woodwork” and describes Seth’s amazing efforts over the last 6 years to grow the business from it’s humble beginnings to the busy woodshop it is today. The Splinters Fine Woodworking group will hold a Gallery Grand Opening show on Thursday, August 25 from 5 – 9 pm. The Gallery is located at 881 Willamette Street in downtown Eugene. The Woodworking show will run from August 25 – October 7 and will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am – 7 pm. The show will also be open during the Eugene Celebration, August 26 – 28 and will be included in two First Friday Artwalks, September 2 and October 7, open until 11 pm. Please stop by to view the new beautiful work by this collective group of amazing artists!
